This course is for anyone who wants learn how to easily build a professional, great looking website that is easy to use for their business or pleasure.

Your website can be used for a number of things including:

  • Explaining why you are different and why the client should hire you
  • Educating and keeping your client base informed about what you are up to (recent projects) and your thoughts on your chosen field (blogging)
  • Tracking who is interested in the type of work you do
  • Giving potential clients an easy way to find and contact you
  • Selling your work online (this is not part of this module)
  • Establishing yourself as an expert in your chosen field

  • Planning your website
  • WordPress settings in the Dashboard
  • Installing Plugins

  • Uploading Images
  • Using Shortcodes
  • Building pages with the Page Builder
  • Setting up a Contact Form
  • Creating a stylish professional website

For this course you will need:

Computer: Access to a computer with Internet – obviously :).

Domain Name: This is the address you type into a web browser so people can look at your website. You may already have one and if not don’t worry I’ll explain how to go about getting one.

Website Hosting With WordPress Installed: Hosting is where your website will live and the place you will set up your website. See the chapter Understanding Hosting. If you don’t have hosting we explain how to purchase website hosting with an easy one-click install for WordPress enabling you to start building your website straight away. If you already have hosting we explain how to install WordPress on your web hosts’ server. We are referring to WordPress.org not the free WordPress.com blogging sites – these are limited in which themes and plugins can be installed.

Website Content: Your logo, images and text for your website – basically all of your website content. Ok so you may want to do this as you go or may not have it all ready yet! That’s ok but might slow down your progress a little – no need to stress – sometimes it’s actually a good way to go about figuring our what you will put onto your site.

At the end of this course you should have a fully functioning professional looking website, as well as an understanding of how to update your website and how to make basic design changes as necessary.
